One of the main differences between Chinese traditional drawings and western classical paintings is perspective method—the scattered perspective dominated the former, while the latter utilized the focus perspective and the aerial perspective.
Based upon this, I studied works of Gong Xian, a famous Chinese painter in Ming Dynasty, and Paul Cézanne, a French Impressionist painter. In addition, I facsimiled Gong Xian’s works through Gouache painting, and implemented Cézanne’s color style to transfer white-black comparisons in Chinese paintings to contrasts between cold and warm, pure and variegated in Western paintings.
Visible optical communication technology is becoming popular in communication field due to the fact that visible light has less penetration power than other electromagnetic waves, and LED lights are widely used for the purpose of efficiency. Therefore, we utilized LED lightings, visible optical communication technology and encryption techniques to design a file access system that can only be used in limited areas. Signals could be easily shielded by curtains, clothes, etc.

Component-Level Modeling and Optimization of Variable Cycle Engine
The real experiments on variable cycle engine are expensive and time consuming. With helps of simulations of components, such as gas turbine engine’s air inlet, main chamber, and turbine, engineers are able to evaluate overall properties of an engine. To achieve this, we built mathematical models based upon complicated nonlinear balancing equations and nonlinear residual equations. We utilized a data fitting method and improved the Newton-Raphson method through variable step size. After adding the time-varying damping term, which is dependent on the simulated annealing algorithm, our algorithm can prevent premature convergence and jumping out of the converging border. It maintained the convergence rate as well. We found optimized solutions after many derivations and calculations.
Two CPLD chips, one worked as a LED driver module, the other functioned as a photo-
-electric receiver to send and receive visible light, were used to implement Manchester
encoding and decoding to combine data signals and clock signals. In addition, DD311
chips, as LED driver chips, were used to implement on-off keying modulations. Our
management software was designed for managing file permission, data transmission,
and user management.
The error rate was only 0.207% when vertical illumination distance was 60 centimeters.
The test was implemented in indoor during daytime. The system also had a low error
rate under the different conditions, including cloud days, and nights.
Sending short messages for greeting is extremely popular in China. The project is a short message system that can interactively present short messages through playing Slingshot. The system is consisted of an 89C52 MPU, a GSM module, a Slingshot and a keyboard attached on the Slingshot. After inputting a short message and shooting the slingshot towards a wall, the message would be projected on the target position.

The GSM module is controlled by the 89C52 MPU using AT commands. Meanwhile, a camera is capturing real-time data. By using the OpenCV library and implementing the barycentric coordinates algorithm and the coordinate transformation algorithm based on irregular connected regions, the system detects the light spot. The animation effect of colorful water balls hitting the wall largely enhanced the entertainment and visual effects.

The project is to design the Integrated Electronic Steering System for the Aero Formula Racing car in order to improve the handling and interface. We designed the engine rotation speed display, the vehicle speed display, and the engine temperature display at the beginning. In addition, we utilized water temperature sensors to adjust the warming-up time, and built a control panel for pneumatic shift to avoid the computational errors of engine rotation speed caused by wrong gears. Based on theory of ergonomics, we used single-chip microcomputers, Hall sensors and Unigraphics NX software to design speed and gear displays. Our car successfully participated the contest of Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE), and got promising results.
